This session highlights the stories of four investigators who span basic science and clinical research and have recently transitioned from NIH F or K awards and other non-profit funding, to successfully obtain the highly-regarded R01 grant.

These four early-stage investigators reflect on their career paths, important people, experiences, and decisions that have contributed to their success. Panelists share their mistakes and lessons learned along the way, and provide general advice in pursuing independent research careers. This session concludes with an interactive Q&A session.
